We will start the day at 10:00 a.m. with a short get-to-know-you session.
We will then begin the workshop with a practice-oriented theory session, before putting what you have learned into practice with our professional model CLARA RENÉ.
WORKSHOP TOPICS
Kai York stands for natural, raw beauty in his photography. At this workshop we will focus on atural and sensual portraits, implied and nude photography.. Kai York will teach a hands-on direct approach to create a basic understanding of photography with available light and emotional storytelling through photography.. Introducing you to the language of light and how you can use ANY available light to your advantage, will make you master natural light in any setting and will you make a better photographer and director to confidently work with your model.
Nude photography is a sensitive and vulnerable genre of photography. Creating a respectful, safe space for the model and you as the photographer is of utmost importance! Communication with the model and building reliable trust are the key ingredients to not only exceptional photos but also to build a professional reputation as a safe photographer. Kai will teach you how to create a setting that will allow you to work with your model more freely as equal creatives, which will create exceptional photos you would not be able to capture otherwise.
To become a confident director at your shoots, you have to know body language which you can then use to pose and direct the model to tell the story in your photos. Kai will teach you about perspective of lines, details of body posing, facial expression and how to use the light to create emotional, sensual photos that will let your model ‘speak’ through her poses and movements.
Creating a natural, casual mood and look in your photography ‘Kai York style’ will be the technical part of the workshop. Composition, dynamic framings, using motion and setting will be all subjects to explore during this class. Through your new knowledge you will be able to take more professional looking photos that are full of emotion instead of static images. We will also discuss topics such as perspective, distance and the right focal length, and also Photoshop and Lightroom techniques Kai York uses to best prepare your photos for print or Instagram.
EQUIPMENT
Please bring a digital SLR camera or mirrorless camera, prime and/or zoom lenses and fitting memory cards.
NOTE
If the workshop is canceled due to bad booking situation or through the fault of the instructor, the workshop fee will be refunded or can be rebooked for subsequent workshop dates. If a model cancels due to the fault of the model, the leader will replace her with an equivalent model.
